About Us
We started Pickles because we kept thinking the same thing: dogs deserve play, attention and companionship and more than just a walk round the block. Below you can read our ethos, watch a tour of our site and learn more about us, the founders.

A minute in the life of a Pickles day: drop-off, play time, and the inevitable nap.
Our ethos is simple: Enrich. Engage. Run Free.
Everything we do is centred around giving dogs the opportunity to thrive mentally, socially and physically. We believe that daycare should be about so much more than simply letting dogs run around for the day. That's why we put thought into every little detail, from choosing the best, most natural treats and creating a carefully structured daily routine, to planning activities that keep curious minds busy and happy tails wagging.
We also understand that no two dogs are the same. Every dog has their own personality, confidence, interests and individual needs, so we make sure there's plenty of variety throughout the day. Whether they're full of energy and ready to run, prefer a little mental challenge, or are happiest curled up under a fluffy blanket, we want every dog to feel comfortable, confident and included. Socialisation is a big part of life at Pickles, we believe positive social experiences are an important part of a dog's development. Our dogs have the opportunity to interact, play and communicate with their friends, while learning valuable social skills along the way. It's not just about playing together - it's about learning to read other dogs, understanding boundaries, building confidence and developing positive relationships. We carefully consider personalities and play styles, giving dogs the opportunity to socialise in a way that suits them as individuals.
Our days are thoughtfully structured to balance active play with rest, socialisation with downtime, and physical exercise with mental stimulation. Because a happy dog isn't just a tired dog. They're a dog who has explored, learnt, played, sniffed, socialised, rested and had the freedom to simply be a dog. That's what Pickles is all about. Enrich. Engage. Run Free.

Back in 2022, I made a life-changing decision to leave behind a long-standing career as a bank manager. While I was incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experience it gave me, I knew deep down that something was missing. I wanted a career that brought me genuine happiness, and when I thought about what truly made me smile, the answer was simple - dogs.
My journey began with my beloved pug, Ralph, who completely changed the direction of my life. He reminded me every day just how much joy, companionship and laughter dogs bring, and inspired me to take the leap into starting my own dog walking business.
Over the last three years, that leap has become an incredible journey of growth, physically, mentally and emotionally. I've had the privilege of building lasting relationships with wonderful dogs and their owners, and even welcoming my own two gorgeous sighthounds, Merlin and Sunny.
My passion has led me to the most exciting chapter yet; creating Pickles Doggy Daycare. Every part of Pickles has been built around the kind of place I would want for my own dogs- somewhere safe, enriching and full of fun, where every dog is treated as an individual and welcomed like family.
Creating Pickles has truly become my dream come true, allowing me to spend every day doing what I love most: being surrounded by more dogs than people.

Meet Megan 🐾
Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but dogs have always had a special place in my heart. I’ve practically never been without one!
In 2018, I brought home Pixel whilst caring for my Grandma. She quickly became a loyal companion for her and a huge source of comfort for me, reminding me just how much dogs can bring to our lives. Then, during a trip to the Lake District in 2019, I realised I wanted to turn my love of dogs into a career. Within six months, I took the leap, left my job and became a full-time dog walker.
Five and a half years of running my own dog walking business gave me the opportunity to work with all kinds of dogs, gain qualifications in canine care and, most importantly, learn what really makes dogs happy, confident and comfortable.
But I always had a bigger dream: to create a space where dogs could truly thrive. That dream became Pickles Doggy Daycare, created alongside my best friend and business partner, Paige. We’ve poured everything we’ve learnt, and so much love, into creating a daycare built around what dogs truly deserve.
For me, Pickles is more than a business - it’s the result of years of working with dogs and falling a little more in love with them every day. And I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days surrounded by muddy paws, waggy tails and the dogs I love. 💚
